A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Grand Forks Caterpillars and Pontiac Godfathers.

The Grand Forks Caterpillars weathered a fine game by Pontiac shortstop Thomas Sharp to upend the Godfathers, 9-5, at Pontiac Copperdome. Sharp was 3-3 with a triple, 2 doubles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The win makes Grand Forks 36-41.

Grand Forks used the clutch hitting of Chris Drew to snag the win. The catcher drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Caterpillars ahead, 9-4. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.

Drew told the Grand Forks Today: "Sometimes the big stage is not big enough for me."
