Yinzers Rally For 3-1 Win
|
Jeff McElroy never let Yucca Valley get something going. The Monroeville right-hander commanded his slider in pitching the Yinzers to a 3-1 win. Monroeville reliever José Garza picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. Menno van der Kooij absorbed the loss. Monroeville improves to 50-27 with the win. They lead their division by 6½ games.
Monroeville took the lead, 3-1, on Pete Zahut's 3rd home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Yucca Valley pitcher Menno van der Kooij in the bottom of the eighth.
"It feels good to get this one," McElroy told the Monroeville Chronicle.
