Grand Forks got a strong outing from Auno Toivola as the Caterpillars defeated the Monroeville Yinzers, 5-2, at The Cocoon. Toivola got the win, improving to 7-6. He gave up 6 hits and walked 2 over 6.1 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Hirokazu Fukuda closed out the game, earning his 12th save.

With the bases empty and no one out in the bottom of the sixth inning, designated hitter Roy Walker delivered big for the Caterpillars. Grand Forks was trailing 2-1 when he belted a solo home run.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Grand Forks manager Oriol Razo.

The 7th-place Caterpillars are now 39-40, the Yinzers 51-28.
