Yellows Deal Philadelphia 8-3 Defeat
The timely hitting of Jing-xiang Shen helped the Yucca Valley Yellows down the Philadelphia Liberty U-24, 8-3. Shen was 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs for the Yellows. Yucca Valley starter Tony Icaza was credited with the win after throwing 112 pitches over 6.1 innings. His record now stands at 2-0. Yucca Valley is 4th in the Silver A with a record of 42-38.

The Liberty U-24 had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Yellows going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old shortstop Emílio Gutiérrez came to the plate. Gutiérrez hit a grand slam home run on a 1-0 cutter from Philadelphia hurler Franklin Vaughn. It was Gutiérrez's 3rd home run of the year.

Yucca Valley manager Ernest Orr commended his team for "putting the pedal to the metal."
