Ruíz Hits 2 home runs in Liberty U-24 Win
|
Philadelphia center fielder Emílio Ruíz contributed significantly to his team's 5-4 win over the Huntington Hermit Crabs. Ruíz, who is tied for 8th in the SA in stolen bases with 7, went 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Liberty U-24. Pavel van Zundert earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. He upped his record to 3-0. Víctor Rodríguez earned the save for Philadelphia, his 5th of the year.
Ruíz had a timely hit for Philadelphia in the top of the seventh. With Philadelphia trailing 4-3, he turned a 1-0 slider into a 2-run home run. It was his 10th home run of the season, making it 5-4, Philadelphia.
"We did enough to win," said Ruíz.
Philadelphia's record now stands at 43-43, placing them 7th in the Silver A.
