In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.

Richard Fernández pitched a gem to lead Yucca Valley to victory over the Grim Reapers, 3-0. Fernández got the win, improving to 4-2. He gave up 6 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. He allowed no runs. Ed Hull picked up the save for Yucca Valley, his 4th of the year.

Yucca Valley used a clutch at-bat from Gary Benjamin to capture the win. The left fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Yellows ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Grim skipper Arnold Magowan, "and it cost us."

The 9th-place Reapers dropped to 33-53.
