Hermit Crabs Use Late Score to Top Liberty U-24, 4-3
|
Pete Gross pitched well, but the Philadelphia Liberty U-24 still lost the game, falling, 4-3, to the Huntington Hermit Crabs at The Shell. Huntington reliever Bill Hernández picked up the win, raising his record to 3-0. Pete Gross was tagged with the loss. Derek MacIntosh earned the save, his 16th, for the Hermit Crabs.
Nick Tobías went 1-3 for Huntington. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the eighth inning, Tobías, who is tied for 7th in the SA with a .810 OPS, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Philadelphia hurler Pete Gross, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Hermit Crabs a 4-3 lead.
"We were the better team," crowed Tobías.
Huntington is 8th in the Silver A with a record of 38-49.
