Hobeaus Take Tight Tangle
|
The Smoky Mountain Hobeaus used a great performance from Jang-jin Na, who is tied for 9th in the SA in strikeouts with 107, to beat the Walla Walla Walleye, 2-1, at Walleye Tank. In 8 innings, Na surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. Kenny Flint earned the save for Smoky Mountain, his 20th of the year.
Smoky Mountain took a 2-1 lead on Héctor Castro's 12th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Castro hit in the top of the ninth, left Walla Walla pitcher Kun Yi visibly frustrated.
"Jang-jin gave us a heck of an effort," said Smoky Mountain manager Gianni Martin.
Smoky Mountain occupies 5th place in the Silver A at 48-41.
