The Monroeville Yinzers withstood an impressive performance by Pontiac first baseman John Melton to defeat the Godfathers, 5-4, at Dragoons War Memorial Stadium. Melton went 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Jai-guo Chio, now 1-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. Pontiac, at 36-53, has lost 5 straight.
Chris Blanchard's at-bat in the bottom of the seventh was significant, coming with runners on 1st and 2nd and the game tied, 4-4. The Monroeville center fielder hit a run-scoring single off Clemens Schlöndorff to put the Yinzers up.
