Cooper Socks Yinzers in 7-0 Commodores Win
|
Alex Cooper led the Put-In-Bay Commodores to a nifty 7-0 win over the Monroeville Yinzers. The Put-In-Bay catcher, who is tied for 6th in the SA in bases on balls with 36, was a force of nature. He banged out 3 extra-base hits, including 2 home runs and 1 double. Put-In-Bay pitcher Dave Hanna got the win, upping his record to 11-5. Doug Kellar got the loss. With the win over Monroeville, the Commodores improved to 53-38.
The game turned with no one out in the bottom of the fourth. That's when Cooper hit a solo home run off Doug Kellar. It propelled the Commodores into the lead, 1-0.
"We'll take some time to unwind," said Cooper, "and then get after it again."
