Caldwell turned a fine outing from starter Marvin Justice into a victory over the Washington Generals at Pipers Ballpark. The final score was 4-2. Justice, now 7-6, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 8, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Don Jackson closed out the game, earning his 28th save.

Charles Petit had a big 2-run double for the Chiefs in the bottom of the third inning. With Caldwell leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a changeup from 19-year old left-handed pitcher Gerald Porter and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 13th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Chiefs ahead, 4-0.

Caldwell manager Jorge Agramunt called it "a darn good win."

The losing skid has reached 12 games for Washington.
