McCartney Excels, But Godfathers Win
The Philadelphia Liberty U-24 could not turn a fine performance from center fielder Mark McCartney into a win. Instead, the Pontiac Godfathers prevailed, 6-5. McCartney went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. At 46-47, the Godfathers claim 7th place in the Silver A.

Shortstop Steve Owens made an impact for Pontiac, when he swatted a 2-run home run off Rafael Palácios in the bottom of the fourth. For the contest, Owens hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Pontiac manager John Moss.
