River Rats Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Hobeaus, 3-1

Haden Manning brought his A-game to help Columbia defeat the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus, 3-1. Columbia reliever Dave Wilson picked up the win, raising his record to 1-1. Bubba Orr was tagged with the loss. Columbia is now 50-43, Smoky Mountain 51-42.
Columbia used a timely hit from Ameirin Javakhov to get the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to put the River Rats ahead, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"I thought we played some darn good baseball," said River Rats manager Bayram Tanaoglu.
