Delmarva Gallos starter Bob Merendino was dealing. He helped his team knock off the Alameda Airmen, 4-1. Merendino got the win, improving to 10-1. He gave up 5 hits and walked 2 over 6.2 innings. He allowed 1 run. William Collins nailed down his 6th save.
Andrew Hatcher had a big solo home run for the Gallos in the top of the fifth inning. With Delmarva leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Jeffrey Lawson and punished it. The result was his 6th home run of the season, which put the Gallos on top, 2-0.
"Watch and learn," said Hatcher. "This is what good pitching looks like."
With the victory, the Gallos upped their record to 60-34.
