River Rats Knock Off Yinzers, 2-0

In a low-scoring tilt between the Columbia River Rats and the Monroeville Yinzers, Niek Proeme, who is tied for 6th in the SA with a 0.97 WHIP, was the difference-maker. The Columbia left-hander spearheaded the 2-0 win. Getting the save was Bill Moore, his 15th. With the victory, the River Rats upped their record to 54-41.
With scoring opportunities rare, the River Rats had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when left fielder Michael Cox hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Aquilino Meléndez and made the score 1-0, River Rats. Cox went 2-4 with 2 singles.
"I had pretty good command out there," said Proeme.
