The Grand Forks Caterpillars and Delmarva Gallos obliged fans hoping for an exciting game.

The Grand Forks Caterpillars besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Delmarva left fielder Roberto Álvarez by beating the Gallos, 7-6, at The Cocoon. Álvarez was 2-3 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The winner was Ramón Santos in relief. His record improves to 6-3. Tadasuke Tanaka took the loss. Earning his 15th save for Grand Forks was Denie Vogelsang.

Grand Forks took the lead in the bottom of the sixth. With two out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Roy Walker stroked a run-scoring single to make it 7-6, Caterpillars.

"They beat us fair and square," Delmarva skipper Félix Martínez said.

The 5th-place Caterpillars now have a win-loss record of 48-48.
