Columbia Upended by Monroeville, 5-2
|
Monroeville pitcher Doug Kellar did his part in helping his team defeat the Columbia River Rats, 5-2. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. The 4th-place River Rats dropped to 54-42.
Monroeville used a well-timed hit by Bartolo Flores to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Yinzers ahead, 3-2. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Monroeville manager Jack Willis.
