Yinzers Topple Hobeaus with Late Rally
|
The Monroeville Yinzers called upon starter José Garza, and he delivered, leading his team to victory over the Smoky Mountain Hobeaus, 5-2. Monroeville reliever Dennis Bates picked up the win, while Juan Cervantes took the loss for Smoky Mountain. Earning the save was Brad Pratly. He's now cashed in 10 of 12 save opportunities.
Monroeville needed the clutch hitting of Tomás Orro to seal the deal. The right fielder swatted a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Yinzers on top, 4-1. For the game, Orro had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"José pitched like a son-of-a-gun," said Monroeville manager Jack Willis.
With the win, the Yinzers have a record of 52-45.
