Lammers Goes Deep Twice in 7-6 The Netherlands Win
|
The Netherlands right fielder Feitze Lammers was instrumental in helping the The Netherlands triumph, 7-6, over the Japan. Lammers hit 2 home runs. He scored 4 runs and drove in 3. Tristan Liefting earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. Luther Fransen earned the save for The Netherlands, his 1st.
Had Franky Bongers not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Bongers hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the The Netherlands.
"It was sure nice to get the win but there's a lot of baseball left," Bongers after the game.
The Netherlands, with the win, is 1-2.
