Coeur C Marrero Suspended 4 Games
Monday, July 20th, 2043
There was a hostile encounter between Pedro Marrero and the men in blue in yesterday's St. Louis-Ft. Worth game. The Coeur catcher was tossed for arguing a called third strike. Actually he did a little more than just complain about the call -- he got in the umpire's face and had to be restrained by his manager.
"I don't think I did anything to deserve to be thrown out of the game in the first place, never mind be suspended," Marrero stated. "That's unbelievable. I still don't know why he threw me out of the game. I didn't charge over there until after he gave me the heave-ho."
The league office did not agree with his assessment of the confrontation and suspended Marrero for 4 games.
This season Marrero has hit at a .260 clip with 7 RBIs, 2 home runs and 18 runs scored. He has played in 47 games.
