Philadelphia 1776 Snaps Woodfinlevine's Streak at 36 Saturday, July 14th, 2035 For 36 straight games, Griffin Woodfinlevine tried to ignore his hitting streak. It wasn't easy. Well, the 27-year-old New Orleans Voodoo right fielder can forget about it now -- it's over, courtesy of the Philadelphia 1776 BC. The BC held him hitless in 4 at-bats at The Voodoo Lounge today and snapped his consecutive-game hitting string at 36. There was at least one good note to the end of the streak, however, as the Voodoo took the win by the score of 1-0. "I tried to ignore it for weeks, but you guys in the media wouldn't let me," he joked with reporters after the game. "I'm looking forward to some peace and quiet now." Woodfinlevine is hitting .368 this year with 2 home runs and 29 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .398, 10 walks and scored 27 times. |
