Yates Ups Hit Streak to 20 Consecutive Games Saturday, September 1st, 2040 The number just keeps getting higher. New Orleans catcher Jerry Yates has now extended his hitting string to 20 games. He did it today with 3 hits in 5 at-bats as the New Orleans took the 11-1 win over the Charleston Battery at The Voodoo Lounge. "Who knows how long it will go on?" Charleston manager Matt Hunt said. "He's certainly tough to pitch to right now." Jerry Yates hit a solo-shot off Kyuichi Hori in the 2nd, doubled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and flied out in the 8th. Yates is batting .337 with 14 home runs and 53 RBIs this season. |
