League Punishes Pair for Fighting Monday, June 14th, 2038 Yesterday at Idaho Falls Park Jon Walker and Larry Walsh got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Idaho Falls Chukars and Mancelona Torch. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Walker will have to sit out 4 while Walsh would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. For the season Walker has hit .236 with 2 home runs and 10 RBIs. He has played in 34 games and scored 16 times. Thus far this season, Walsh has worked 38.2 innings with 44 strikeouts en route to a 2-1 record and a 2.56 ERA. |
