3 Bombs for Pedro Rey
Sunday, June 17th , 2063
Holy City Herons left fielder Pedro Rey put on a dazzling display of power at Columbia Stadium against the Columbia River Rats. In the 5-2 Herons victory, Rey penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts.
"He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Columbia manager Bayram Tanaoglu said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well."
Along with his three home runs, the 21-year-old had 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
"Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Rey said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today."
Pedro Rey struck out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Jesús Suárez in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Jesús Suárez in the 5th and hit a two-run home run off Jeff Robinson in the 8th.
Rey is currently batting .309 with 5 home runs, 27 runs scored and 17 RBIs. His OBP is .360.
