Rowdy Players Suspended by League Wednesday, September 6th , 2062 Yesterday at Mango Yard Jing-xiang Shen and Jeff Cust got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Yucca Valley Yellows and Holy City Herons. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Shen will have to sit out 3 while Cust would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. So far this season, Shen has recorded a .248 batting average with 40 hits, no home runs, 6 RBIs, 10 runs scored and a .289 OBP. For the season, Cust has no saves, tossed 18 innings, fanned 15 batters and produced an ERA of 1.00. He has also been credited with 1 win and 1 loss. |
