Best SA Reliever Named
Thursday, September 20th , 2063
At the age of 24, Ron Smith says he still has a lot to learn about life in USSL Single A.
But he certainly seems to be a quick study, as the Walla Walla Walleye reliever was better than all others this year and has captured the 2063 USSL Single A Reliever of the Year Award.
"I hope to win this a few more times before all is said and done in my career," the Titusville, Florida native said.
For the season, Smith had 8 saves in 32 relief appearances, which totaled 43.2. He fanned 29 betters, while walking 10 and put up a record of 6-3 to go with his 1.44 ERA.
He received 8 first place votes out of a possible 10. Mark Conner of the Walla Walla Walleye finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Armando Hernández of the Columbia River Rats finished third.
