Mississippi Whitewashes Thunder Bay, Denton Winner Saturday, July 28th, 2040 Todd Denton led the Mississippi Mockingbirds to a 7-0 shutout victory over the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC at Magnolia Park today. "My pitching coach told me before the game just to bear down and focus," Denton recalled later. "He said no one was going to hit me if I'm throwing a good breaking ball with good location." Denton yielded 7 hits and had 5 strikeouts and no walks in the standout performance. "I thought he put the ball where he wanted to," Thunder Bay manager Scott Williams said. "And that's just about the whole secret to pitching." Denton has started 14 times this year, pitched 86 innings, fanned 72 batters and walked 27.
