League Suspends Ruíz and Parales for Brawl Friday, September 3rd, 2038 Yesterday at Panda Park Raúl Ruíz and Juan Parales got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Montana Pandas and Toledo Stingers. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Ruíz will have to sit out 3 while Parales would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. Ruíz has a .248 average and a .311 on-base percentage for the year. He has picked up 73 hits, 16 home runs and driven in 45 runs. This season Parales has gone 4-9 with an ERA of 5.40, posting 51 strikeouts in 103.1 innings. |
