Memphis Loses Sheldon Whiteside for Season
Monday, September 14th, 2037
The doctors have spoken and Sheldon Whiteside of the Memphis Redbirds didn't like what he heard. The 25-year-old reliever is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Whiteside sustained his season-ending injury during the Augusta Timber Hawks game yesterday at Timber Hawks Ballpark. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Memphis medical staff reported Whiteside had a torn flexor tendon in his elbow and would be absent from the lineup for at least 8-9 months.

Currently Whiteside has 37 relief appearances, saving 5. His record is 2-1 with 44 strikeouts in 42.2 innings and a 4.64 ERA.
