Kingfishers Rack Up 7-5 Win Versus Montana
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Pittsburgh Kingfishers and Montana Pandas.
The Pittsburgh Kingfishers defeated the Montana Pandas, 7-5. Left Fielder Dermott Colenutt deserved a large share of the credit. Colenutt was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Kingfishers. The winning pitcher was Todd Hunter. His record now stands at 6-4. The right-hander went 6.1 innings, allowing 5 runs on 6 hits for the Kingfishers.
Colenutt contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Pittsburgh in the bottom of the sixth. With his team trailing 5-2, Colenutt took a fastball from Juan Luis Matos and stroked the home run to right. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Kingfishers to leap in front, 6-5.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Pittsburgh manager Tyler Johnson.
Pittsburgh bumps their record to 45-48 with the win.
