SL Selects Rookie Star of the Month

Júlio Coronado's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Mississippi first baseman has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month.
In August he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award.
During the month he hit .341 with 2 doubles, no triples and 6 home runs. Coronado also scored 20 times and drove in 15 runs.
Looking at his present stats, Coronado has compiled a .270 batting average in 90 games with a .352 on-base percentage, while hitting 19 home runs and driving in 57 runs.

Hori Earns SL's Best Pitcher Honor

As Kyuichi Hori hoisted up the United States Silver League Pitcher of the Month trophy for August, rumors have already begun to swirl about whether he will leave D.C. once his contract is up at the end of the season.
Hori put pressure on the Divided to keep him around by posting a 4-0 record and an ERA of 1.82 over 29.2 innings last month. He also rolled up 15 strikeouts, increasing his value both to D.C. and to every other team in the league.
Hori has started 18 times this year, pitched 109.1 innings, fanned 82 batters and walked 35. His current record is 7 wins and 5 losses with a 3.95 ERA.
