Las Vegas Ships Hernández to Toledo

Proving the old adage that one man's trash is another man's treasure, the Flamingos announced today the acquisition of $200,000 in cash from the Toledo Stingers in exchange for 17-year old minor league C Arturo Hernández. "This isn't the deal of the century," acknowledged the Flamingos, "but we think it will improve the direction of both teams."

Davis Makes Record Book, Slams 4 HR

Las Vegas Flamingos shortstop Matt Davis totally decimated the Ft. Worth Cattlemen, finishing with 4 home runs in his team's 15-3 win.
The Cattlemen had no answer for Davis, who finished the day 4-for-5 with 6 RBIs and 4 runs scored.
"What can I say? My guys could've shot the ball out of a rifle and he'd probably hit them out anyway," said Ft. Worth skipper Scott Thompson. "There's nothing you can do when a guy gets in that kind of zone, you just hope he cools down some before you have to face him again."
When asked about his record performance, Davis responded, "After the first two I just tried to do everything the same way and it worked."
Matt Davis hit a solo-shot off Seung-gwan Kim in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Seung-gwan Kim in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Andrew Shirley in the 7th, hit a two-run home run off José Escamilla in the 7th and struck out in the 8th.
This season, Davis has delivered 10 hits in 22 at-bats for a .455 average with 5 home runs. He is getting on base at a .478 clip and his totals also include 10 RBIs and 5 runs scored. This year Davis has played in 6 games.

Career Over -- José Martínez Retires

José Martínez said he's looking forward to getting home to Pinar del Rio, Cuba to relax and unwind.
At age 36, the Memphis Mockingbirds player has announced he will retire at the end of the season.
"I'm thankful for my time in United States Silver League, but all good things must come to an end," he said.
To date in Martínez's career he has no saves with a 44-44 record and a 3.92 ERA.
