The Pittsburgh Kingfishers scored a tight, 3-2 win versus the Detroit Elite at Detroit Stadium. Pittsburgh pitcher Richard Miller held his own in the contest. Cipriano Flores got the save, his 18th in 21 chances. By defeating Detroit, the 8th-place Kingfishers improved to 47-50.
Matt Petty had a direct impact on the outcome. Petty contributed a run-scoring hit-by-pitch in the top of the first inning to put Pittsburgh up, 1-0.
Petty told a Pittsburgh Daily reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
