Mockingbirds Need Extra Frames to Get Past Lakers
|
Memphis Mockingbirds starter Guy Fontaine was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Echo Park Lakers, 4-2, in 10 innings. Memphis reliever David Thornton picked up the win, raising his record to 3-2. Brendan Fulton was tagged with the loss. The Mockingbirds go to 57-45, putting them third in the Silver League.
Memphis needed the clutch hitting of Lee Lee to seal the deal. The designated hitter swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Mockingbirds on top, 4-2. For the game, Lee had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"It was terrific getting this win," Fontaine said. "We put in a lot of work to do it."
