Kingfishers Sneak Past Thunder, 3-2
|
Toronto got a big-time effort from pitcher Tai sun Rang, but it wasn't enough to keep the Pittsburgh Kingfishers from winning the game, 3-2. Rang threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. The winner was Cipriano Flores in relief. His record improves to 2-3. Jack MacAlonie took the loss. Pittsburgh is now 50-52. Toronto is 57-45.
Pittsburgh needed the clutch hitting of John McGrady to notch the win. The right fielder hammered a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Kingfishers on top, 3-2. For the game, McGrady had 1 home run and 1 single in 2 at-bats.
McGrady told a Pittsburgh Daily reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
