Billy Goats Losers, 3-2, to Pittsburgh
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Pittsburgh Kingfishers and the Colorado Billy Goats, pitcher Richard Miller was the difference between victory and defeat. The Pittsburgh left-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-2 Kingfishers win. Miller, now 10-4, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing no runs. The save went to Cipriano Flores, number 26 for him.
Pittsburgh won the game in part because of Dave Hennessey. The center fielder ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Kingfishers ahead, 2-0. For the game, Hennessey had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Colorado skipper Mack Kilkeary, "and it cost us."
After today's action, Pittsburgh sits at 57-45, while Colorado falls to 59-43.
