Kingfishers Earn Win with Late Rally
|
The Pittsburgh Kingfishers downed the Memphis Mockingbirds, 3-2, at Pittsburgh Grounds. David White led the way, going 0-for-4 for Pittsburgh. Ray Mitrou, who leads the SL in holds with 8, was the winner in relief. His record is now 2-2. The losing pitcher was Carlos Sandoval. With the win, the Kingfishers have a record of 51-52.
The decisive blow was delivered by John McGrady in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a solo home run off 32-year old right-handed pitcher Carlos Sandoval to win the game for Pittsburgh. The home crowd went nuts.
"What's not to like about a win?" said White.
