Steve Romero, who is tied for 8th in the SL in wins with 9, had a strong outing for the Memphis Mockingbirds against the Colorado Billy Goats at Magnolia Park. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 7-2 win. Romero, now 9-6, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. With the win, Memphis raised its record to 58-46.
Carlos Gómez had a big 3-run home run for the Mockingbirds in the bottom of the third inning. With Memphis leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a fastball from Chaz Michael-Michaels, the 2nd overall pick in the 2059 draft, and punished it. The result was his 8th home run of the season, which put the Mockingbirds on top, 5-0.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Gómez.
