The Pittsburgh Kingfishers trumped the Detroit Rock City, 3-1, at Pittsburgh Grounds. Pittsburgh designated hitter David White was terrific. He threw 6.2 innings allowing 1 run. White yielded 1 run over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 1, and struck out 8. His record improves to 11-5. With the win, Pittsburgh pushed its record to 58-46.
Brian Anderson had a big 2-run home run for the Kingfishers in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Pittsburgh leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a changeup from Miguel González, who finished 4th in the SL in innings pitched with 153.1 last year, and swatted a home run to left. It was his 9th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Kingfishers ahead, 3-0.
"That's how you're going to be successful," said Kingfishers manager Tyler Johnson. "It starts with pitching and it will always be pitching."
