The 2062 season did not get off to quite the start the Oakland Oaks had hoped, with an opening day loss to the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC at The Oak Grove. The final score was 2-0. Starting Pitcher Hansel McDonald was the top performer for Thunder Bay. McDonald got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 7 hits and walked 1 over 7.1 innings. He allowed no runs.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Northern Lions BC had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the top of the fifth, when left fielder Calvin Shanahan hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Claude Moulin and made the score 1-0, Northern Lions BC. Shanahan was 1-5.
