Northern Lions BC Pull Out Late-Game Win, 1-0
|
Washington Stadium was the site of the home opener for the D.C. Divided. The contest featured a prime matchup between Hakizimana Kipkorir of the visiting Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC and Will Rogers of the Divided. The final score was 1-0, the Northern Lions BC getting the win. Will Rogers turned in the best performance. Thunder Bay pitcher Steve Hale got the win. He's now 1-0. David Guzmán was tagged with the loss.
Thunder Bay used the timely hitting of Takenao Taniguchi to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Northern Lions BC on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Watch and learn," said Taniguchi. "This is what good pitching looks like."
