Coeur Drop Contest, 4-2, to Kingston
|
Kingston picked up a win at The BFIB, bumping off the St. Louis Coeur, 4-2. Pitcher George Taylor was a major reason the Ponies emerged victorious. Taylor, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Kingston is now 2-1.
Kingston used a clutch at-bat from Júlio Gil to capture the win. The catcher hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Ponies ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"George pounded the strike zone and made good pitches when he needed to," said Kingston manager Rayzor Ray.
