Piranhas Stumble, Lose to Bowties
|
Panama City got a terrific game from right fielder Jorge Zapata. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Buckhead, 8-4. Zapata went 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Forest Strickland claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. His record stands at 1-0. Rory May got credit for the save for Buckhead. It was his 1st of the year.
In the bottom of the sixth, Buckhead right fielder Max Pegrum hit a two-strike sinker to center field for a 2-run single. It put the Bowties up, 6-4.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Pegrum told a Buckhead Observer reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
Buckhead sits at 1-2.
