The Cape Coral Hurricanes defeated the St. Louis Coeur, 4-2. Third Baseman Brian Byrd deserved a large share of the credit. Byrd was 2-3 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Hurricanes. Erich Alfaro picked up the save for Cape Coral, his 1st of the year. The Hurricanes, now 5-2, have hit the ground running this season.

Early in the game, Byrd had a 2-run home run for Cape Coral. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Hurricanes on top, 3-1.

After the game, Cape Coral manager Greg Diersing applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
