The Dayton Dirty Reds rode a solid performance from 21-year-old starting pitcher Daryl Crawford to a win, beating the Kingston Ponies, 3-1, at Lang Park. The winner was Crawford. He threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Edward Small. Mike Carney recorded the save for Dayton, his 1st of the season.

The Dirty Reds got a big at-bat from third baseman José Cuebas. For the game, Cuebas was 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Dayton a 3-0 lead.

"It never gets old," said Cuebas. "Winning, that is."

The loss drops Kingston to 4-3.
