Slumping Ponies Lose 7th Straight
|
The Charleston Battery beat the Kingston Ponies, 8-5, at Charleston Armory. Jean Kools slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 8 runs and scored twice. The 31-year old first baseman was a menace to Kingston all day. Now 10-2, the 2061 Battery have been sensational so far.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, Kools hit a cutter from Fred Hull for a 3-run home run. The Battery, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"It's what good teams do, find a way to win," said Kools.
