Charleston first baseman Benno Luby was instrumental in helping the Battery triumph, 8-5, over the Toledo Stingers. Luby went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The winner was Augusto Alfonzo, who threw 96 pitches over 5.2 innings. The left-hander was charged with 3 runs on 7 hits. Yura Hrustalyov closed the door for Charleston, picking up his 2nd save of the year.

The Stingers had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Battery going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 37-year old second baseman Francisco Daulong came to the plate. Daulong hit a bases-clearing triple on a 1-0 slider from Toledo hurler Archie MacMurchy. It was Daulong's 1st triple of the year.

"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Daulong.

The Stingers drop to 6-7 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2057 season.
