Bowties Come Up Short at Dayton, 3-2
|
Dayton pitcher Juan Rodríguez had a large part in his team subduing the Buckhead Bowties, 3-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. Rodríguez picked up the win for Dayton, going 7 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 2-1. Melis Ooyendijk picked up the save for Dayton, his 1st of the year.
In the bottom of the 1st, Dayton took the lead on a 3-run home run by Vasan Parthiban. At the time, the Dirty Reds were trailing 1-0, but Parthiban's hit with two outs against Buckhead pitcher Christian Roberts put them in front, 3-1.
"That's baseball," said Buckhead manager Kerry Hofmeister. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
Dayton goes to 10-5.
