Oakland Defeated By Dirty Reds, 6-1
|
Oakland had no answer for Dayton Dirty Reds starter Eric Talley, who flummoxed Oaks hitters as the Dirty Reds cruised to victory, 6-1. Talley picked up the win for Dayton, going 6 innings. He gave up 1 run on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 1-1. Steve King closed out the game, earning his 1st save.
Fernando Mezzatesta had a big 3-run home run for the Dirty Reds in the bottom of the first inning. With Dayton leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a fastball from Jarred Conner, who is rated as the 63rd best prospect by BNN, and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Dirty Reds on top, 4-0.
"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," Talley told the Dayton Herald. "Whatever it takes."
The loss drops the Oaks to 10-6.
