Brian Orpen did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Nova Scotia Leviathan from being beaten, 8-7, to the Kingston Ponies at The Dungeon in Halifax. Orpen was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Kingston reliever Jim Smith picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Masato Rin was tagged with the loss. With the loss, Nova Scotia falls to 8-9.

Timely hitting helped the Ponies beat the Leviathan. Prime example: the two-out single Phil Brooks registered in the top of the ninth. Facing Masato Rin, Brooks gave his team the lead, 5-4, when he hit a run-scoring single.

"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," Brooks told the Kingston Gazette. "Whatever it takes."
