The Charleston Battery knocked off the Mexico City Blue Demons, 5-3, in Menard's Third League action at The Squared Circle. Charleston pitcher and Pasadena, Texas, native Pham Phung had an outstanding performance. Phung yielded 3 runs over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 0, and struck out 2. His record improves to 3-1. Jim Milley closed out the game, earning his 1st save.

The Blue Demons had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Battery going into the top of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old first baseman Wilbert Bradley came to the plate. Bradley hit a solo home run on a 1-0 changeup from Mexico City hurler Wulf Hinkamp. It was Bradley's 2nd home run of the year.

"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Bradley said after the game.

The win gives Charleston a record of 12-7.
